PS4 Remote Play without PSN sign-in

Post by Yifan Lu » Wed Feb 08, 2017 5:10 am

Remote Play requires a PSN sign-in at some point because when you sign-in to PSN, your online ID gets cached (along with your avatar image URL and banner image URL). The online id is required to link (make sure the same PSN account/online ID is used on both your Vita and PS4). If you logged in to PSN in the past (before PSN spoofing was disabled by Sony), then this cached info is already on your Vita. However, if you formatted your Vita after PSN spoofing was disabled OR you purchased your Vita after spoofing was disabled, then you need to manually create this cache file. This guide will lead you through in doing that.

Creating the Online ID Cache
  1. Make sure your Vita is linked to your PSN account. You do not have to be activated! To ensure you are linked, restore your Vita (do NOT format your memory card unless you want to lose everything). Once you get to the welcome screen, select that you already have a PSN account and type in the information. If you remember doing this when you last went through the setup, you do not have to do it again.
  2. Download and open up a hex editor. Create a new file and fill it with 328 bytes of 00. To help, you can copy the following:

    Code: Select all

    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
  3. REPLACE the first N bytes of the file with your PSN online ID (the same one tied to your PSN account!) where N is the length of the name. For example, if my PSN online id was "MyAccountName" then N would be 13 and the hex would be

    Code: Select all

    4D 79 41 63 63 6F 75 6E 74 4E 61 6D 65 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Make sure the file is still 328 bytes!
  4. Save the file as myprofile.dat
  5. Enable HENkaku if you haven't already. With VitaShell/molecularShell, copy the file to ur0:user/00/np/myprofile.dat. If any directory doesn't exist, create it.
  6. Reboot your Vita and you can now use PS4 Link
(Request: Someone should make this into a Vita homebrew app so it won't be as complicated.)

Using PS4 Link
When you use PS4 link, the Vita will attempt to log-in to PSN and prompt you to update. If you cancel out, then it will still work. If you don't want to be annoyed by the prompt again, you can install https://github.com/yifanlu/netcheck_bypass

I don't have a Vita as of yet - I have ordered one and it should be with me in the next week or two. I've put together something to generate the myprofile.dat. It is designed to run on Mac/Linux and probably Windows. I feel it should be easily portable to Vita as it's basic C. Maybe someone can port it over.

I´m having a problem. I’ve done all steps and Vita and PS4 seems to being ¨understanding¨ ecah other, but Vita says ¨Other user’s number has been entered¨ and PS4 give me error ¨CE-35406-8¨

What’s happening? We’re SO CLOSE to finally use Remote Play on 3.60!!!!

Thanks!!!

I converted my PSN ID to hex, verified multiple times and it's correct... Or maybe I must use PSN ID Email?

I'm having some trouble getting this to work. I create the file with my actual ID (not the email) and so forth, but I get a "must update vita" message everytime I try to connect or register the vita. When I dupe the update message with QMCA, I now get the email/password psn prompt. I have tried a lot of stuff but cannot get it to work.

If I restore my vita, will I lose everything including Adrenaline setup?

Try putting the Vita into flight mode with wifi disabled. Reboot. Open PS4 link app on vita it should prompt that you're in flight mode a couple times and then present you with the code entry screen. Enable wifi and then connect to the PS4, see if it allows you to connect.

iPetahh - If you go to settings - Playstation ^TM^Network, is your email or user name listed at the to? I'm thinking this needs to recognize your username in order to sync with the PS4. I was under the impression that this method would accomplish that.
